Welcome To Mahiti Trust. A Journey towards Development with Justice

Community Based Institutions at Village & Area level

Strengthening Rural Communities Through Grassroots Institutions

Mahiti Trust has pioneered the formation of over 555+ Village-Level Institutions (VLIs) across Gujarat’s Bhal region, enabling rural communities to take charge of their development. These institutions play a transformative role in addressing local needs across financial inclusion, sustainable agriculture, health, education, and social justice. Our approach focuses on community-led governance, women’s empowerment, and sustainable resource management. Through ongoing capacity-building, training, and partnerships with government and financial systems, we equip communities to lead with knowledge, confidence, and resilience.

Women’s Economic Empowerment:
Over 11,700 women across 150+ villages are financially empowered through 555+ savings groups and two regional cooperatives with an annual turnover exceeding ₹25 million.

Community Governance & Social Equity:
We’ve strengthened local governance through 90 Village Water & Sanitation Committees, 30 Watershed Committees, and advanced child protection and gender equity with 153 Village Child Protection Committees and 113 Adolescent Girls' Groups.

Sustainable Agriculture & Livelihoods:
More than 4,000 farmers trained in APEDA-certified organic farming across 36+ villages, supported by 14 NABARD-backed Farmer Producer Organizations for collective growth and Agri-entrepreneurship.

Community Health & Maternal Care:
A network of 105 Women Health Workers and 130 Traditional Birth Attendants delivers essential primary care and safe maternal health services in remote villages.

Mahiti Trust continues to build resilient, self-sufficient communities by placing people at the heart of development—ensuring that transformation is rooted in dignity, equity, and local leadership
