The term target groups
refer to communities to which MAHITI has its
commitment. Various interventions planned for
next 5 years that will be executed by groups and
cooperatives promoted by MAHITI. The two apex
cooperatives in Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar
districts are registered organisations. MAHITI
would chiefly operate through these apex bodies
and associated groups across Bhal. In this
process MAHITI will invest in development of the
cooperatives. In exceptional cases program teams
would directly involve in the execution.
MAHITI project partners are broadly identified
under following categories.
Caste and class groups: Peoples from
socially-economically backward caste and
classes.
Gender: Women from socially-economically
backward caste and class of society especially
widows, women from BPL (below poverty line as
defined by State) families, dependent women,
differently able women, and women headed
households.
Farmers and farm laborers: Small and
marginal farmers and farm laborers from
disadvantaged communities.
