topSince its inception, Mahiti has been organizing the marginalized
communities around land improvement, water
harvesting and other related natural
resource development activities. Mahiti has
so far organized the people to adopt
appropriate technologies to reduce the
salinity on individual farm as well as on
collective / common land. It has also been
involved in creating water harvesting
structures. Mahiti had to get involved in
advocacy campaign to change the policies of
government to grant watershed development
programs to Bhal region. |

Finally, it succeeded,
now Mahiti is a recognized PIA. It has so

The above activities
have covered 8500 hectors of land. It has
impacted as follows:
• The productivity of land increased due to
water availability – the production of wheat
increase to 300 to 350 Kg from 120 to 200
Kg per one bigha of land. 3104 families
benefited.
• Rs. 2,58,560/- workdays of employment
generated
• Soil erosion of about 3000 hectors
prevented |
