Rationale for taking up the health issues:


    • Area being backward geographically very
      little and inappropriate health services by
      government
    • No transport facilities in the remote
      villages
    • Malnutrition due to acute poverty
    • Work load of women, child marriage
      leading to diseases among women.
    • Lack of education leading to superstitions in health practices
    • Poor quality water leading to water born diseases
    • Exploitation by private doctors


Objective of the program
 
• Health awareness among people and especially
  among women
• Evolve and strengthen appropriate local health
  practices
• Evolve primary health care system and thereby
  reduce exploitation by private doctors
• Train village midwife (dai) towards scientific and
  hygienic practices

How?


    • Training of dais and village health workers
    • Supply medicines to village health workers for primary health care
    • Linkages with PHCs
    • Village level health awareness camps
    • Health check up and health care campus
    • Referral cases to hospitals


Results


    • 40 village health workers trained
    • 20 dais trained
    • 40 types of medicines being provided through village health workers
    • Women started bringing out their own health issues and diseases and vaccination
