MAHITI strongly
believes in people’s right to associate
with any activity. Socially and
economically disadvantaged communities
and Dalits will be organized on priority
basis. Groups are organized in villages
and their issues are taken on common
platform. Groups from neighboring
villages’ support social cause where as
activities are supported by Apex
Cooperatives. This is visible in
interventions like watershed, drinking
water, drinking water and saving and
credit, health etc.
In implementing each of its
programme/ activity, MAHITI develops collective
leadership so that people can carry on and manage
the process there after. As mentioned above in
MAHITI’s interventions women play significant
role. Nevertheless men are taken into confidence
to support the cause taken up by women. Men also
realized that their inhibitions to face upper cast
communities would derail the right-based approach.
Hence they willingly support women to take
leadership. |
